![]() ![]() Hang on, are you claiming whenever BIOS updates fail it is because users have put in the incorrect settings because they tweaked something in the BIOS and that it has no other reasons?Īnyways, I think the point that I am making is being misunderstood that the Routerboard firmware is not RouterOS and that it is responsible for the actual hardware itself. ![]() Yea 20 years ago I sweated bullets updating BIOS', but not anymore. PCs, yea quite a few failed, but it wasn't due to power. I've upgraded thousands of PC BIOS' and thousands MikroTik Firmwares over the last decade and never stressed over it. That's human coding error.Īll MikroTik's have firmware/OS recovery netinstall. So skipping versions has a higher chance of failure than a power outage. For example a motherboard might have 15+ BIOS upgrades, yet the latest firmware wasn't programmed to take into consideration that you might be updating from version 1.0. Usually BIOS upgrade problems is due to poor programming. Most Motherboards especially if they are labeled business or gaming have BIOS recovery methods. Ever seen what happens to a computer that loses power while the BIOS is being upgraded? Even without power dips upgrading a BIOS feels very stressful, this is the same case for the Routerboard Firmware.
